About us
Bodegas Hispano Francesas brings together the experience in cultivation, winemaking and marketing in the Denominations of Origin Rioja and Cariñena. With more than 25 years of know-how and experience, we are proud to vinify our range of wines from Northern Spain in two of the Denominations of Origin best known for their quality, DOCa Rioja, and DOP Cariñena for their quality/price ratio.
The company owns 25 hectares of old vineyards in height in Cariñena where the contrast of daytime and nighttime temperatures is high and therefore our wines are very fruity, tasty, always maintaining good acidity for barrel aging. It also owns 10 hectares of wines in Rioja Alta where we grow our reds and whites at the foot of the well-known Sierra Cantabria.
Our goal is to give these wines the greatest prestige and select the best channels and clients for them. With this range of high-quality still wines, we begin a new project with renewed energy.
We welcome you to our project!
The soil and climate
The soil and subsoil where our vineyards grow are characterized by the great diversity of their geological composition depending on the altitude at which they are located. In the lower areas we find brown-limestone soils, sandstone and clay.
However, in the higher altitude sectors, where the oldest vines grow, slate soils predominate. A terroir from which a high-quality grape is born manages to create a quality grape, recognized internationally, as attested by the awards and prizes that have been awarded to us.
Over Cariñena dominates the continental climate. Our region has very hot and relatively dry summers, while winters become very cold and windy.
Rioja vineyards
Located at the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria, we find clay-calcareous soils that benefit from the confluence of two totally opposite climates, the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, which provide mild temperatures and somewhat higher than average annual rainfall. These conditions make us find ourselves in the perfect enclave, in the Rioja Alavesa, for the development of our vineyard.
If we add to this that most of our vineyards are located at more than 600 meters above sea level, we already have all the components so that the result is to obtain very high quality wines.

Wine making and aging
We carry out the manual harvest between the end of September and the beginning of October. The grapes are transported in 12 kg plastic boxes.
Once it arrives at the winery, we begin the selection process, always choosing the grains by size and weight to always have the best raw material.
